As a community health nurse, Sister ministers to the malnourished children through a diocesan village clinic of Upper East Region in Ghana. At the nutrition center of the clinic, Sister admits children who suffer from a deficiency disease called “Kwashiorkor." This is a protein caloric malnutrition syndrome, which occurs in children. Kwashiorkor slows down a child's growth and impairs the child's general health, thus increasing his or her susceptibility to different kinds of infection.

The affected children together with their mothers are often fed until they recover. During this period, Sister gives health talks to the mothers. Sister also weighs babies, evaluates their health conditions and gives immunizations.

Holy Child Sisters operate these health centres:

  • Cardoso Catholic Community Project clinic (Ajegunle), Lagos, Nigeria
  • Loyola Jesuit College Clinic, Abuja, Nigeria
