Cornelia Connelly, the foundress of the Society, encouraged her sisters to “meet the wants of the age,” meaning that we need to continually adapt to a changing world and respond to its greatest needs.

Combining Cornelia’s call with the reforms of Vatican II in 1965, some of our ministries expanded beyond education. Today, some of us work for independent organizations or schools as health care workers, lawyers, social service workers, and even artists.

Read about the work of Sr. Mary Frances Nevins, a paralegal who works for Philadelphia Legal Assistance or Sr. Rosemarie Tedesco, who does social work at Calcutta House, a residential facility for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

Through these ministries, we continue to live out our mission in a myriad of ways, helping others to believe that God lives and acts in them and in our world.
