Recently, 2nd October, 2021, Our prestigious Holy Child College, South West Ikoyi graduated 80 students found worthy in character and learning, knows as The Elites Class of 2021. The parents, teachers and Sisters of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus in the South West zone graced this occasion. The Valedictory Mass took place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel, Holy Child College, S.W. Ikoyi, Lagos.
Rev. Fr David Olaniyi, the celebrant, spoke on the theme of gratitude. He drew the attention of the graduands to the fact that there are things often taken for granted, students are likely to take for granted the care and nurture they received from their parents and teachers these past years. This calls for thanksgiving and in fact, celebration. The ten lepers cured in today’s gospel from Luke 17:11-19, out of the ten lepers cured, only the Samaritan returned to thank the Lord and in addition to healing, he received salvation. Go your faith has saved you. During the thanksgiving, the graduands demonstrated their gratitude in joyful singing and dancing with gifts to offer to the Lord
Sr. Ebele Onochie, SHCJ, the acting Administrator, drawing on their chosen theme: ‘’Attitudes for greater heights’’, reminded the graduands that for one to attain greater heights in life, she needs to have the fear of God and develop the attitudes to run these races. She congratulated them for finishing their race but reiterated that there are more races ahead. The Commencement speaker, Diplomat Judith Azubuike, an old student as well as the 2021 Valedictorian Kosisochi Colette Nwosu spoke to the hearts of the Graduands. Academic Awards were presented to Graduands of the Elite Class of 2021 who distinguished themselves in their performances.
The graduating students made a generous gift donation to the school.
Another solemn aspect of the ceremony was the Induction of the graduating students into Holy Child College Association.
