31st October 2020 was awesome. It marked the solemn blessing and opening of the new SHCJ Provincial house located on the Lekki Penninsular axis on Bankole Lukmon Street, Lekki Lagos.

We are grateful to God: the weather was clement, the upheavals that followed the endSARS protests had ceased, SHCJ sisters in the South West zone of Nigeria and friends turned out in their number to our own astonishment.
The event of the solemn blessing and opening was celebrated in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at Catholic Church of the Epiphany, Ologolo village Road, Lekki. It was officiated by the Chief Shepherd of the Archdiocese of Lagos, His Grace Most Rev. Dr Alfred Martins. He was joined by the Dean of Lekki deanery; Monsignor Paschal Nwaezeapu, the Episcopal Vicar of Lekki Region; Monsignor Francis Ogunmodede, the North West Africa – Jesuit Provincial; Very Rev. Fr. Chuks Afiawari, Priests of Lekki deanery, Religious congregations in the Lekki deanery and Holy Child Sisters in Lagos, Abeokuta and Osun States all turned out for the event.
In his homily, the Archbishop Adewale Martins described our coming to the Epiphany Church as a mile stone for the Sisters but more so for the parishioners because the SHCJ presence here is another sign of the presence of God with His people. This, according to him is a grace of God. He added that the SHCJ have come with the values of the vows and therefore prayed that our presence will assist parishioners to know God better, love God better and serve him better. He stressed that whatever we do that does not lead to holiness of life would mean going off track. The love of God and love of one another leads us to sanctity of life. The summary of his message in the words of St. Paul and Cornelia Connelly is that we are called to be saints both in potency and in all our activities.
The Sisters sang through the Mass and were joined by the entire congregation in the spirit of joy that is typically Holy Child.
Friends and parishioners of Catholic Church of the Epiphany joined us in thanksgiving offering at the end of the mass. Thereafter, the procession led to the new Provincial House which is adjacent to the church. See video clips and photos of the Mass and rite of Blessing. To God be the glory, great things he has done!
