Artwork created by fifth graders at Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child’s coed elementary school is being displayed at the One River School of Art and Design gallery during the month of December.
The students’ work debuted at an opening night reception hosted by Lower School art teacher Tim Brown at the Millburn-based school on Wednesday, December 12.
“This is a great opportunity for the students to see their work displayed outside of their ‘home turf,’” Brown said. “It’s proof to them that the outside world still finds art to be important and seeks out young artists eager to show their talents.”
Brown added the work, which exhibits the students’ study of value through colored pencil and crayon drawings will include at least one work of art from each student and will hopefully inspire them to continue to foster their artistic voices.
“I hope they can see that not only is art still important in the world today, but their voice as a young artist matters, too,” he said.
Founded by the Society of the Holy Child Sisters in 1924, Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child is an independent, Catholic school, coeducational in elementary school from kindergarten through grade six; and all-girls in middle and high school from grades seven through 12.
