Dr. Beth Reaves – Head of School, Washington School for Girls (WSG)

Before the Washington School for Girls community went on Christmas break, our elementary students at The VIEW Campus performed “A Christmas to Believe In.” This play, written by Sharon Kay Chatwell, introduces the Christmas story to a young character who is not sure if she believes in the miracle of Christ’s birth. Through a detailed journey of the biblical story, the character learns the true meaning of Christmas. The cast consisted of third-grade students and was accompanied by two fifth-grade narrators.

As a Catholic school, we strive to incorporate religious traditions and faith into everything we do. While the students and families at Washington School for Girls are not all Catholic, we are a faith-based school and practice Catholic traditions. Our Christmas program is just one way we teach our community about the Catholic heritage.

The performance served as a wonderful reminder of the true meaning of Christmas and was a great way to celebrate the season, as well as the beginning of our Winter Break!

We are back from Winter break, and our wish for our students is that they carry the themes of Advent and Christmas with them throughout the year. Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love are key components of our mission at Washington School for Girls. We wish you all a safe and blessed New Year!
