Diana Pinto – Executive Director, South Central Los Angeles Ministry Project (SC LAMP)
SC LAMP is a co-sponsored ministry of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus.
The immigration challenges facing South Central LAMP in 2025 are daunting, with families living in fear of uncertainty, policies shifting unpredictably, and resources stretched thin. Mothers arrive at our doors anxious about their futures while their children’s well-being hanging in the balance. Yet, amid these struggles, a powerful force of hope and resilience rises—our staff, board, community and supporters who refuse to let fear win.

This is why our Empowerment Awards matter more than ever. On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, we will shine a spotlight on the unwavering commitment of those who have stood beside us, ensuring that our families continue to receive the education, resources, and encouragement they need.
We are proud to honor Marilyn N. Stambler, President of the Friars Charitable Foundation, with the Person of the Year Award. Her continued generosity has strengthened our mission.
We celebrate Valerie Woodard, a devoted kindergarten teacher at St. Martin of Tours School, who rallies her students twice a year to provide SCLAMP with donations that have included over 300 backpacks filled with art supplies.
We also recognize Maria Alcalde and Fr. Paul Fitzpatrick of St. Martin of Tours Church. Their congregation has led with faith and action, delivering steadfast support by providing yearly diaper drives for our community. Their efforts are not just gestures of goodwill; they are lifelines.
When we gather for this event, we will do so with gratitude and determination, knowing that, together, we are a force stronger than fear.
