Rose Martin, RSM, Executive Director, Hope Partnership for Education
Earlier this month, Hope’s Adult Education Program launched its first Health and Wellness workshops for the Adult Learning Community. The Health and Wellness workshops are offered each academic session to help adults gain a better understanding of how lifestyles impact health.
This first workshop focused on the basics of diabetes. Almost 1 in 10 Americans have Type 2 diabetes, including several of our adult learners. During the session, we welcomed Endocrinologist and Hope Partnership Board Member Andy Quint, M.D. Dr. Quint spoke to approximately 20 of our adult learners about the causes, treatments, and management of Type 2 diabetes. Dr. Quint fielded many questions and facilitated an important conversation that continued among the community even after the workshop ended.
Our next workshop is planned for the Fall and will focus on nutrition. If you or someone you know is a health professional and would like to hold a conversation about health and wellness issues with our adult learners, please contact Michael, our Adult Program Director, at mzolk@hope-partnership.org.
