HAVERTOWN, PA – On Thursday, March 3 at the St. Raphaela Center, the Society of the Holy Child Jesus (SHCJ) appointed a new American Province Leadership Team (The Society is composed of three Provinces: African, American, and European). Mary Ann Buckley, SHCJ will serve as Leader of the Society’s American Province. On her leadership team will be Margaret Doyle, SHCJ of San Diego, CA; Sandra Lincoln, SHCJ of Portland, OR; Eileen Moughan, SHCJ of Philadelphia, PA; and Marie Ursino, SHCJ of New York, NY. Installation will be in the New Sharon Chapel in Rosemont, PA on June 5, 2011. The new team will lead the Province of more than 150 sisters in the United States, Chile, and the Dominican Republic for six years.
Born in Chester, PA, Sister Mary Ann has been a Sister of the Holy Child for 47 years. During this time she has served as a high school teacher, college administrator, director of novices, and the international Leader of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus. In recent years she was employed by the national Religious Formation Conference to lead a formation program for men and women responsible for training new members of their congregations. In the past four years, she has been part of the SHCJ community in Chile, working as a vocation and formation director, with a special interest in ministering to migrant women. In reflecting on her new appointment, Sister Mary Ann says, “I am honored to serve as Leader of the Society’s American Province, and I thank all the Sisters for their prayers and support. Together with my team, I regard the next six years as a wonderful opportunity to work with our Sisters, along with many members of the laity, who are advancing our mission. I hope that, together, we will continue to dedicate ourselves to helping people develop their God-given gifts and talents so that they can lead meaningful lives and make a difference in our world.”
Those who will be part of the new leadership team are currently engaged in a variety of ministries. Sister Margaret Doyle of San Diego, CA, is the Coordinator of new Province-Sponsored Ministries in various parts of the US. Sister Sandra Lincoln of Portland, OR, is a Chemistry and SAT/ACT tutor at De La Salle North Catholic High School. Sister Marie Ursino of New York, NY is the Director of Counseling at Prep for Prep.
