In November 2019 the European Province gave a grant of £10,000 to Trees for Cities.
Trees for Cities is the only UK charity helping to improve lives by creating greener spaces and healthier environments in urban areas. Its objectives are to help grow stronger communities, enhance urban spaces, and improve health and happiness in parts of cities that need it most. It brings together local residents and community groups to work on practical greening projects in parks, streets, housing estates and schools.
Beckton District Park South is a large public green space located in the Beckton Ward of Newham. It was created as a vital green space in 1901 for local workers living in the municipal housing project neighbouring the park.
The Society of the Holy Child Jesus CIO has kindly supported Trees for Cities with a grant of £10,000, which has contributed in delivering the Beckton District Park South Tree Planting Project in Newham. Some photos from the day are below:
